FM Dan, Can you post some pics of the lower 1/4 panel PATCHES for him?? I used them on my 67GTO and they fit "like a glove".....The 67 GTO rocker moldings are EXCELLENT also! Eric

You guys are right and yea a pro should do it. I should say I have a 66 and I believe there are some differences in the panels behind the wheel. My car needs alot of work here you can see what I'm working with... Car is all put back together right now but I can stick my arm in the quarter panel and I really don't like that!

Now that I see the damage...I would seek another panel, and professional installation! A good bodyman can make that look like it never happened. Mine only had rust behind the wheel and down low, under the molding.....Eric

I have a friend that has been doing collision repair for 12 years look at this for me. He said he could make it disappear but his main concern is where do I want him to stop since he can't weld to rust and the trunk is rusted out as well along with the wheelwells...
I did take the car to a restoration shop and basically they quoted me $20k to get the car acid dipped, replace all the metal that needs replacing, and e-coat the whole car. No body or paint work here just metal replacement. At that point I didn't know what to do my car isn't worth that investment to me from a collectability stand point or for sentimental reasons. I kind of think they just didn't want to do the job honestly since it would take up so much time and space. What I need to do is find someone who is retired who likes to do this kind of work and just let them have the car to work on at their leisure with a loose time deadline and pay them cash by the hour, I think...

PY sells the trunk floor, and wheel wells...if you are doing lower 1/4s you should do the trunk and wheel wels at the same time!!! 20K without paint is a bit steep!

What you need is an experienced shop that does this kind of work regularly. You don't need a high end $50.00+ per hour shop that does concours resto's. You also don't want the corner body shop turned loose on it. This is where belonging to a club has benefits, ask around and find out where other guys in your area have had work done. For reference, replacing both quarter skins, outer wheelhouses, trunk extensions, trunk floor and braces and repairing the inner wheel houses as needed should take a competant experienced shop anywhere from 125 to 200 hrs, it depends on the extent af the damage. If you can find a reasonable shop/guy to perform the work at a fair rate around $30.00 per hour, the labor will run around 4500.00, parts will be 1500.00, figure in another 1,000.00 for primer, supplies, media blasting, etc, the total comes to 7,000.00. That is a realistic estimate to complete the metalwork and get everything in epoxy primer. Even if you have to pay 50.00 per hour, the total should not be much more than half of your 20,000.00 estimate. What area of the country are you in? Maybe guys on this board can direct you to a reasonable, competant shop in your area

I'm in Milwaukee Wisconsin area. I would have to say a $7k-10k range is much easier to stomach. Good advice thanks.
Funny you say 200 hours because that is the the amount of time my bodyman friend said it would probably take.

Dynacorn said it would be the biggest stamping they've ever made, something like 8 feet long, 3 feet tall, with a 9 inch draw. And they don't have original tooling to start with, it was damaged long ago.
