I used their paint for my dash, steering column, door panels, kick panels with excellent results. I was recoating panels in gold.
The key is proper surface preparation. Use the SEM plastic and vinyl preparation products to ensure good adhesion.
You may want to use a grey or tan primer first if you're dying over a dark color.
It's difficult with the lighter topcoats to cover over black or similar dark colors.

I used PY products with very good results. I use saddle and dark saddle on my interior parts 15 years ago and they still look like I did them yesterday.

Dash is brown now but gonna change to the dark blue. As I recall from my old GTO the dash was two different colors of blue but Ames only carries the one color. I'm not really worried too much about it. It would be nice if it was correct but this is more of a resto mod anyway so I am not gonna lose sleep over it

if you want... there is some "left-over" new cans of PY dye on e-bay. It's being sold under Max Performance.
Here's the link. http://stores.ebay.com/Max-Performan...=p4634.c0.m322
Some good deals on there...

I think you will find that the paint for the metal is a different color. Top rails of the doors if metal is not the same paint or color of the upholstery. You would need to get the interior color code for that. My 66 has a different shade of blue than my dash pad and interior.

Never used the Ames product. Did try the Parts House one for Dark Saddle....no good, not even close. Spent big money on the right color for interior 1972 Dark Saddle from the paint shop. Very happy with it. You get what you pay for or what you can live with.

Like I said as I recall it was two shades of dark blue. I am not real thrilled about rattle canning my dash so even if it's not the correct two tone I think I am gonna have my paint shop try to get the closest match to my seat covers and just do that.
