They were available with a 261ci six, a 283ci V8 or a 348ci V8 in 1961. Top of the line was a 348 tripower rated at 280hp. You can see Canadian Pontiac brochures at https://oldcarbrochures.org/Canada/G...iac/index.html
(In my collection of 1961 factory literature I have copies of the 1961 brochure both in English and French. )
