230 degrees
My stock 400 auto, I let the car idle for about 20 minutes and the temp went to 230. I have a fan clutch on now, but Last thurs. I drove her from DC to Carlisle, with an stright flex fan, about 2 hour drive. Ran the car pretty hard temp stayed around 200. Once I got to Carlisle in traffic temp started to rise. I do not know about the water pump or the water/coolent mixture, could either hinder my cooling?

Could be low air flow at idle speeds, this plagues my car. The reason i am going to electric fan with progressive controller and switch for full on if needed.

coolant is a less effective heat exhanger then water.
so, too high of a coolant to water ratio will indeed affect thermal transfer. ie, hihger water percentage can help cooling.

What size flex fan? You want a 19" fan to be effective.

i think a clutch fan is the best of the mechanical fans............
you should spend the 200 bucks and buy an electrical fan though. try the flexalite black magic fan..........its the best bang for the buck.....or a junkyard that has newer cars...........those fans are really good too....... always use a 50/50 mix..........water does cool better..........but water also will cause rust...........50/50 is the way to go.........they work hand in hand.......one more thing.....i had problems with cooling too.........it was too much timing...........and also i put a smaller water pump pulley on..........that really helped.
