Have you ever thought about turning the wick way up George and spinning that thing up or are you scared you might hurt something every pass you make...
I can only thing your sweating like a nun in a field full of cucumbers everytime to stage the car... You could lay down a big ass number.. |

is detonation just a given at this rpm / power level, meaning no way to prevent it? |

The sob rattles the valve cover bolts lose after a pass. When you look at dwell, piston speed, bore length, bore, stroke, combustion chamber cc, the design, it’s not really ideal for 9k rpm. If you want to go fast, your gonna rattle it.

I can't in anyway shape or form see a SBC wrist pin holding up to near prostock HP levels and over 9500 rpm!
Any motor at close to 1200 hp is making some 2000 psi of cylinder pressure and with the average pro stock motors Bore size of 4.750" that's over 35,000 psi loading the wrist pin and everything else that recipercates in the motor!

And the sbc 400 slugs can be had oversize 30,60 etc, extremely lightweight and fit the PMD455 bore/stroke. My pins are VAR and very thin wall (geez forget if taper-wall). Just that 927 little-end 6.625" PMD is a frankenstein rod! |

I’ve got the Oliver’s in mine with a Melling pump and holds 75-80 lbs thru the 1/4 mile. When Butler freshened it over the winter bearings looked new. Actually reused the mains.

This is all great information however I am left wondering what blocks you guys are running at these levels. is it safe to assume everyone is running an aftermarket block or are any of you guys pushing 800+ in a factory prepped block? I just did not see anyone mention that little detail.
SPEED SAFE, NICK

I know Paul K is around 800hp with a stock block. Aftermarket is just a good investment and allows more options and longer reliability

Car is only certified to 7.50
The chassis will only take so much power (That is way it is only certified to 7.50) I'm basically at it now. So then where is a 7.50 et time slip? LOL Stan
