I'm careful to never say anything to my wife about going out to get bread- for fear she would think I was saying "bred".

Wareagle; OH YEAH !!! That is a sweet looking ride too. We in the Pontiac community should go out of our way to put Pontiac engines into chevy bodies. Payback to the world of sorts !!! My vega drag car has a 400 Pontiac, my 83 S10 has a 350 Pontiac, and the last 69 camaro I had was sold with a 400 Pontiac in it. That's starting to look like a pattern with me isn't it?

I'm doing a frame off rodstoration on my Nova putting a pontiac 455 in it. It was a real shame that I had to scavenge a 68 Firebird for parts. On the good side of the deal the Firebird was pretty well gone. Now one other thing I noticed on the Firebird front subframe compared to my Nova front subframe was the pitman arm on the power steering gear box is different. Not sure if it was an F-body thing or just a Pontiac thing. Now for some other things that I have not seen mentioned here that I have been looking at.
Your starter will be swapping sides which means you will need a longer starting wire and I would get a heavier gauge wire also. Second option is what I am looking at and that is to just get a battery relocater kit and put it in the trunk so you gain more rear wheel wieght. You will need Firebird power steering hoses if you plan on giving your wife power steering. Front springs: either get a set for first gen Firebird or go to big block springs. (I'm using Firebird springs.) Going from a 350 sbc to a Pontiac 455 you better have at least bolt in sub frame connectors and weld in would be better. (Torque is what twists a body and torque is something the 455 has never lacked in any form.) On a side note: Most stock 455's have really low compression ratios which make them excellent on the street, but I like the low compression becouse I think the engine would love to see about 5 PSI of boost out of a blower or turbocharger and still be happy on 92 octane or possibly even less.

In Canada, we have Pontiac cars with chevrolet engine in them from the factory, I call them Cheviac or Pontichevs ! I was thinking if I ever buy a 66-69 Pontiac Beaumont, I would take out the original motor out such as 283-307-327-350 chev, store it and transplant a 389-400-421-428 or 455 in it to make it a real Pontiac powered car !

I would love to someday get a 67 SD big block Beaumont and put a Pontiac engine in it, say a 400 with 670 heads or a 428 with 670 heads. But it really wouldn't matter which year it was, just as long as I got to do it right even though general mess got it wrong to begin with.
