That motor looks fantastic. Looks like someone just laid it in its bed. Perfect!

Saw you are running the Richmond transmission. How does the shifter come out in comparison to stock? I considered using them but no one could give me a straight answer as to how far the shifted would be off. I think Richmond is missing out in this market by not making a tranny that is a direct fit for our cars.

It fell in the tunnel. No mods necessary. Not even a ding in the floor. I'm running the old street 5 speed with the 1:1 5th gear. It has a Long H pattern shifter. I ended up cutting the tunnel hump top out and replacing it with something thicker for a better and much more tap able shifter boot mounting surface. I think i had to move the hole back 4" center to center from stock. I still have the original piece i cut out. If i get a chance ill measure and let you know exactly. I also had to lower the tranny crossmember mounting surface about a 1/2" That took a little bit of time there.

Mounted up my tach and gauges. I just stuck with the old autometer sport comp stuff. I wanted to do the new/old Stewart Warner Green Line stuff but WOW they don't give them away. I also dont like the look of the flat gauge panel everyone uses so i opted for some cups for the temp/oil pressure gauges below I also angled them a bit tward the driver seat. I think it turned out well. I mounted the tach where i did so it didnt block the view of the speedometer or gas gauge. Its just blocking a couple idiot lights and you cant even tell i have a tach in the car from outside. Semi-stealth. I'm not in love with it but its probably my best option.

Well I haven't posted anything on here in a bit. I figured id update. I got My HEI dropped in and plug wires ran. I squared away a bunch of torn up factory wiring thanks to some gentlemen on this board. I fired it off today. If you click the sideways video you can watch a quick minute of it. I also have a couple shots of the plug wire separators i used. R&M specialties from Summit. for 48 bucks these look great, are very reasonably priced, made in the USA, and are high quality IMO. I posted both of these in the street section but i figured id do it here since this is my project thread.

I also have to plug M&H for their superior customer service and products. I got an engine harness from those guys to eliminate my external regulator and add and HEI. It is top notch product. They have a customer for life.

Question: What did you do with the small heater hose coming from the water pump? I see clamp but no hose.

I rubber capped it and used a radiator clamp to secure it. I did the same on the rear passenger side cylinder head nipple. Im not hooking my heater up for a while so i didnt see a need to run it. I'm not going to hurt anything am I?

Well I dont know but I have mine running to the back of the motor. I dont have it going to the firewall because I dont need heat. I never used it and the heater core went out.

Maybe someone can chime in? Id love to do what Nick did and get rid of that hose.

No worries... You're perfectly fine by capping both of those fittings. You won't hurt a thing. I've done it many times over the years for similar reasons.

Of course I do have my heaters all hooked up these days, but that's 'cause I have that thin Arizona blood!

Only thing I would recommend is to not use those lousy rubber caps. I've seen them go bad on the shelf at the auto parts store - the top of the cap rots off. Better to cut a 3" or so piece of heater hose and clamp it to the nipple and find a solid plug for the other end of the hose and clamp the hose around it. A very short piece of 5/8" and 3/4" inch rod work good.

Also agree that there is no harm in blocking them off. If there was a problem, the drivers side of our engines would have self destructed years ago.
