I'm at the Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge show this weekend, as soon as I get back home I'll dig up a sample and get it to you.

Got a couple of pieces mailed out to hottrodd today. They are folded over design with a silver insert in them and a small lip that grabs the underside of the drip rail molding. I tried taking a few pics but they didn't come out very clear, may try again with a different camera later. Anyway in case it hasn't been brought up yet these plastic versions were used on the fullsize cars as well, have a buddy with a '67 Bonneville that still has it on the drivers side. I'm not sure about the Firebirds, would have thought the Camaro boys would have done had these made if used.

DG,

Seems I remember the folded up thing with like a Mylar strip in them also, but it's been a lot of years. Glad you kept pieces, but I bet making them that way would be more expensive, huh.

Remember, we are talking Pontiac, not Chevrolet. The quality was generally better on Pontiacs.

If someone else is handling the reproduction of this, I'll bow out. No sense in more than one person chasing this.

I have taken the sample I have to a few shops here in Indy, the big issue I'm running into is that the metal strip in the center was nit mylar, but a very thin piece of s.s. That was moldedin the center. None of the plastics shop have the ability to to mold the as into it like original,
A option that I may try to go with will be having the piece molded clear or having it molded silver/ chrome.
Will update when I get more soils info.
If it was made in sliver/ chrome color, no metal in it, would u guys still be interested in this , since it would not be 100% correct???

I just remembered my friend, Terry, bought NOS ones from a guy in Michigan. (name to remain private). I will see if I can go over there and see what these look like ,and
discuss making them with him. He won BOS in Wichita two years ago with his 67 GTO HT Larry B.
p.s. Mr Cox, re PM me, I spaced and erased yours along with others I shouldn't have!

Terry said these were applicable to Buicks and Chevrolets also. I wonder if these are being repoped by either vendors for these two??

He does not think it would be difficalt to repo these, but, what would warrant the
expense? i.e. Is there a demand for these. He said in Concours judging, he takes a point off if they aren't there, but, for the general hobbyist?? Who knows, I guess you have to be anal like me! lol Larry B..

I am a player! No one is popping these... The initial market impact would be huge, there are thousands of guys out there that would buy them for their already restored cars. Once PY and Ames list them in thier catalog and guys start seeing them at shows, they'd fly out the door! Just look at all the cars with the Buick air cleaner decals!

Should start another thread with a poll.

Add a vote for committed with a PM sent for follow up.

I will check with Terry on this, and start a search for a fabricator. I need some time, and I will return! lol Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor!?? Larry B.

It wouldn't matter to me if they were molded in silver. I don't think painting them would be a good way to go.
