While it would be easy to have that much in a top notch restoration with all the details done, it does not appear that they've taken the time to detail this car to sell it.

One thing that stood out to me is that the underside is coated in undercoating. For that kind of money, I expect a properly bodyworked and painted underside.

Everything should be cleaned and detailed, including removing some parts and re-prepping them as needed. If you're going to spend this kind of money on a car, the details have to be done.

I was referring to the rear seats, but looking again I was actually looking at the back of the rear seats.
The lower cushions are going the right way.

Never noticed that the top part goes the opposite way.

It needs the "389-4V" Buick sticker on the air cleaner to set if off properly.

The price on the window sticker for the A/C is a big car price and not the correct Lemans/GTO price.

Keith by saying you don't like the red lettering is like saying you don't like red pinstripes on black cars. Say it ain't so Keith!!

Negative!

I am a pushover for red pinstriping on black cars...

But - did not prefer the red inside the GTO and "Pontiac" letters.

I'm also a stickler for factory stock, I guess.

Took me a sec to understand this. Ditto Greg!

I'd really like to see the Data Plate to be sure it is a match to the PHS.

I'm no expert on '65s, but if I read the PHS right, car was originally Burgundy with Parchment. And a 4 bbl w/ 3.08 Safe-T-Track (not the code F 3.55).

On the plus side it appears to be a factory A/C GTO.

I don't doubt you could spend $84,000 making one this nice.

I also think that it would have been worth more to potential buyers if the money had been spent to keep true to factory correct. Do what you like if you are building it for yourself. But suffer the consequences when you try to sell if the money went into mods. And this one looks awful fresh, doesn't look like the owner got to enjoy it very much so it seems somebody might have misjudged their end goal when they spent all that money. You can spend $500,000 having eyebrows expertly painted on the Mona Lisa because you think she'd be more attractive to look at with them. No matter if it never leaves your living room wall. You'll enjoy it just fine. But don't be surprised when you try to sell if buyers decide the painting is worth tens of millions less in its altered state.

More power to the seller if it commands anywhere close to the asking price.

If it were only the red lettering, we'd be picking nits. I have seen that done on early GTOs since I can remember and always thought it looked bad.

Honestly, I like the car. Just think the price can't be justified.

It looks like, from the mounting position, the driver won't be able to see out that passenger side rear-view mirror.

Even the drivers side mirror is mounted in the wrong spot.
