Do those 3.23 gears mean it has the towing package, and if so are there other things like a better cooling system or brakes that may be on the parts car?

It is the Big Pontiac Axle that replaced the 8 7/8" big car axle in the 71-76 BOP B-Bodies. They used it in A & B body Wagon's & B-bodies with towing packages.

And yes I knew it had a HD towing Package with HD Radiator & Factory air shocks. So many good parts to swap onto my 78, it also has the big 11" rear drums, but most wagons have those.

Cool, My Pontiac differential knowledge is limited. So, is a posi carrier for that differential, something that might be hard to find????

Not impossible, but probably not easy to find, I found one for my 71 Catlina's 8 7/8" but I haven't tried to find one for a 7 3/4" yet.

The Buildsheet in my 77 Cat Wagon was in behind the (pretty sure) passenger side cargo area plastic trim side panel . If i remember- the panel is made for simple removal/access.

I wasn't looking for it when i found it, it was just there.
Was just cleaning it up/cleaning it out after i bought it.

Car is too full of storage misc to see the pass side panel now, driver side has like a glovebox made into it. I'm pretty sure it was the passenger side panel.
That was almost 30 years ago - but was behind one of those rear panels.

It will tell who the original ordering dealership was.
And whether it was a special customer order, or inventory order.
Plus all equipment listed. [axle ratio , etc..]

Mine is 301 2bbl, AC, cruise, tilt, roof-rack, Rally 2's
No gauges, just a Clock

1978 probably -not- a 557 Block ?

My knowledge is that only the 4 speed "F" bodies got the non 557 blocks. I have the original 400 out of my buddies Catalina, that he special ordered, with the tow package. It has the "real" balancer and the 557 block....

I just got the car pulled in to start stripping it today, I will know soon enough what block it has, but I am assuming its a 557 as it does not have a real HB. I will have to check in the usual places for a build sheet.
