Default Cheap High Pressure Fuel Pump

Has anyone tried any of the external chino-pumps out there?
I'm looking for something cheap in the 90psi+/- (>58psi) range to be used only for engine break in & tuning on a stand.

From what ive seen the cheap inline pumps are going to fail. Weather its 5 miles or 50,000 miles who knows, but typically its sooner than later. Personally, a fuel pump is a terrible place to cut corners; I wouldn't want to be stuck on the side of the road if it goes out.

No experience with the Chinese stuff, but if you shop around I think you can find a Walbro inline for around $75. Is it worth it to take the chance?

He said it is ONLY for start-up and tuning on a test stand.

My in-tank test pump fits through the opening of my 5 gal. gas can. Then stick return line in the same opening. Do have to fold the sock down and poke it in the hole first.

There are a ton of high pressure Chevy mechanical pumps around, has anyone every tried to swap the pump are from a Pontiac into one as they seem the same otherwise?

Ken Crocie, many years ago did a Pontiac Fuel Pump upgrade where he adapted a 6 valve Fuel Pump to work on a Pontiac upper (lever arm) top. Stock is 2 valve.

He could tell you all about that modification.

We just use an old holley blue pump on our test stand, been on there for years.

You could even run an old style carter electric inline pump still available from any parts store pretty cheap and rig that up on the test stand.

You don't need a ton of fuel pressure on a test stand since the engine is never under load and at the most, cam break in is the only rpm it will see, again with no load. If you had a pump on there that pushed 3-4 lbs that would get the job done fine on a test stand. Most of the time it's just idling. Matter of fact most of the time I dial the holley blue pump down to about 4 lbs with a regulator.

I have 2 or 3 Holley pumps laying around collecting dust, but EFI requires at least 58psi.

I have a FiTech Bosch 044 copy that has maybe an hour of runtime on it.

It's yours if you pay for the ride.

You can't beat the price on something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/LQQDP-Perform...9234839&sr=8-2

Search on GSS341 fuel pump, and you will have a million options.

I have this model pump running right now in my 67 FB with FiTech, and it cost me around $20 from Amazon at the time. I had done FiTech's in-tank retrofit fuel pump kit, and broke the FiTech pump outlet nipple on install. This pump was a directly sized replacement at about 1/5 the cost of an FiTech replacement. I run it to a Tanks, Inc. return regulator.

If you are running an FiTech, you could run this right from your fuel can to the fuel inlet, and run a suitably sized return hose from the onboard regulator outlet back to the can. Easy peazy.
