Performance Years - Spring Shows 2013
2013 SHOW SEASON BEGINS!

It feels like it's been forever since we took the big rig out for a spin. Next week, the 2013 show season officially begins for PY as it heads down to the Spring Charlotte Auto Fair.

Over the winter, we have been hard at work developing new products, stocking up inventory and prepping the trailer to provide our customers with another great show season. Over the rush of Spring shows, customers will be able to check out first-hand what exactly we're talking about.

New Products scheduled for appearance (and sale) at Spring shows:

  • PYI92A: 1968 Courtesy Dash Lens
  • RPF210C: 1966-67 GTO Front Bumper Show Chrome (back in stock!)
  • ALL brand new GTOG8TA.COM products
  • RPE146P: 1964-74 Engine Mounts, polyurethane
  • RPF268: 1968 Inner Grilles
  • RPF10M: 1968 GTO Valance Moldings

1966 PONTIAC GTO IMMORTALIZED
ON A US POSTAGE STAMP
With the February 2013 issuance of the Muscle Cars (Forever®) stamps, the U.S. Postal Service celebrates five iconic automobiles: the 1966 Pontiac GTO, the 1967 Shelby GT-500, the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, the 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda, and the 1970 Chevelle SS. Each of these cars represents the adventurous spirit of the muscle-car era. Fast, powerful, and eye-catching, muscle cars roared their way onto America's roads in the late 1960s. Typically equipped with big, powerful engines, the five high-performance vehicles depicted on the stamps represent the era's adventurous spirit.

Artist Tom Fritz based his artwork on photographs of the cars. Fritz said he used bright-colored oil paints on hardboard to try to “capture the emotive quality of the vehicles.” Growing up in Southern California, Fritz became familiar with the power of muscle cars. The paintings, Fritz added, are “a projection of my memories of the vehicles.”

Muscle Cars is the third issuance in the America on the Move series. The stamps were designed by art director Carl T. Herrman. The first issuance in the series, 50s Sporty Cars (2005), was followed by 50s Fins and Chrome (2008). The Muscle Cars stamps are being issued as Forever® stamps in self-adhesive sheets of 20 (4 of each design). Forever stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate.

GRAND PRIX SURVEY PRIZE ANNOUNCEMENT
This past December, we sent out an email to our Grand Prix customers. We asked them to complete a short survey aimed at improving and refining our expanding 1969-77 Grand Prix product line. Not surprisingly, many of these Grand Prix owners helped us by providing an insightful look into the mindset of owners and restorers of these beloved Pontiacs.

We're sure they answered our survey because they wanted to help us improve this product line. The $500 prize promised in our email probably had nothing to do with it.   But because this prize was promised, we had better deliver.

We're proud to announce the winner of a $500 Performance Years Gift Certificate:

Tom Kenny
of Lumberton, NJ
Owner of a 1970 Grand Prix

Performance Years would like to congratulate Tom and thank all of the other GP owners that took the time to fill out and submit our GP survey. The information you shared should help us better accommodate the needs of your classic Pontiacs and your preferences as owners.

Thanks
The Performance Years Staff (especially Grand Prix Mike)
