is there a good site that will tell me what the cc's are to certian heads? and what the heads are. i know Wallace has some of that, but like on 4x's and 6x's? we have a whole car full of pontiac heads that we have been hording of the years. and i'm trying to find out a set of good heads to run a everyday driver, and another set for a all out drag car.i was digging around and found some 46's 7k3?'s a bunch of 6x's and 4x's 670's and a bunch others i don't remember. i know the 46's came off of a 350 GTO, and i'm not sure that the guy who has been hording them for years will let them go. so is it hit or miss on the 4x's and 6x's? i can look at the combustion chambers and tell on some of them. i know the 670's are to high compression for anything i want to do for a steet car. the all out drag car might end up being a turbo motor so i don't think they would work on it. can you tell by the casting #'s what the heads are with the 4x and 6x's? or is there a big fat book of casting #'s? suck if they where dang old chebby heads i have a book that tells eveything! i need one that tells me pontiac heads!

thanks guys

For the 4X and 6X's,you will need to find the secondary 'stamped' code on the head. This will tell you what the cc's are by looking at the list I have on my site.

Stampings on Head codes - 51,5C,6X,6S,6H
2- 101cc's probably special 455 head for 455HO T/A
4- 91 cc's 350/W72 engine; - 77,78,79 stick T/A's engine code WA,WC,& PWH; - 77/78 W/72 auto T/A code Y6 (77) & X7 (78); - Can-Am's with T/A 6.6
6- 114cc's ? any 455 head (75-)
7- 98 cc's 400 AIR (5C or 6S)
8- 98 cc's 400 standard (5C or 6X)
9- 91 cc's 350 AIR (5C or 6S)

Stampings on Head codes - 4X
1H - 112cc's 2.11/1.66 valve 455 head -screw in studs(4 bbl?) some pressed in
3H - 98 cc's 2.11/1.66 valve 400

Also, most of my cc's are what the factory claimed.
Many heads are bigger chambers.(i.e. - more cc's)

i'll look around and see what we have, but i'll have to talk rodney into selling any of the heads. it's his stock pile and for some reason he thinks hum or his kids will be able to run all these heads at some time. he did give me one 455 and a set of #62's for helping clean up around the shop when i was 17. he wanted one of us guys that was hanging around the shop to run a pontiac, and i was the only one who was poor enough and willing enough to give pontiacs a shot, everyone else was building sbc's. funny thing is my pontiac has out peformed all of them chevys! now i'm working at the shop instead of just hanging out and i have a chance to kinda dig around and look. we have a old buick regal wagon full of heads and timing covers and valley pans just random pontiac parts. rodney at one time was buying all the heads at the wrecking yard for scrap weight. he got one set of ho's at the time, if i remeber right but has sold them.

anyway sorry for the big long post not really on topic

i'll ask him monday, and see what we have.
