Would have been equipped with 15x7 plain steelies with pov caps, unless PHS shows Rally II's or Honeys . . .

I'll let Jason post further details and the PHS invoice if he chooses, but I've seen VERY few WW5's with as many options as this "shed find" car!

Once again Jason - congrats!
Hope you can bring this one back to it's former glory!

Lloyd - Any chance the WW5 cars were pattern built like the 69 Judges? Is there a way to tell from the PHS? Quite a few built fairly loaded up and multiple Cardinal Red cars.

Pretty sure it was just salesmen and special order buyers loading them up, Chris.

Not much of a "pattern" anyway - with a total of only 290 built, I suppose.

IF Pontiac had properly marketed the WW5 option package as the ultimate GTO it was, they'd have sold thousands of them - not less than 300!

The car needs a spoiler on it.

Maybe if you are in high school but, as an adult driver, nope.

Here is my first WW5 bought from original owner with original paint 1977. No wing ding and no alleged 'ho' decal on the deck lid. Has '455HO' on quarters.

I agree lLloyd about Pontiac doing a crappy job marketing the WW5s but, not sure how many would have really sold if they did try to market properly.
People were just not buying new performance cars in 1972 regardless of brand. The market was so saturated with good used muscle by '72 and the new ones were so much more money. The cars fuel mileage was not a factor as the first oil embargo was to hit until the fall of '73 after the '74 models had been introduced.
Still, Pontiac should have marketed the car better. Reason? Probably the people in charge of Pontiac at the time. There were still good engine and suspension guys working there but, top management was in the toilet performance wise.

That first picture shows a good strong GTO neighborhood.

Not sure what you're saying there steve, but I'm pretty happy with mine, and it's been 30 years since High School.

I should let you know - it's kind of an inside joke between Lloyd & I.

Thanks Lloyd.. I do plan on restore the car with my son...

Steve,
Cool pictures.. Looks like you've been around these cars for a couple years.. Wish I knew about these cars when I was younger!

Is the rear deck decal the same as the big GTO decal on the front fenders of the 71 GTO's?

Boss, NICE car.. Is it an automatic or 4-speed? I really like the Honeycomb wheels.. Need to find a set for this car..

Speaking of wheels, here's some close up picks of the Keystone wheels...

I've got Connecticut Repair and Dealer plates for 68-72. Used to run around with them on when the current ones were the same colors - now they're different.

There's been lots of discussions about the decal on the deck lid - seems some had it, some didn't. Mine sports one now - thanks to Lloyd.

http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...=592413&page=2

If you want some Honeycombs for your car I've got several sets and could probably put together a nice set of driver quality wheels/trim rings/center caps if you need them. If you're in MA you can't be far away - plus I'm up in the Holyoke/Springfield area at least once a week these days if that's close.

Mine was built as a 4spd but has an auto in it now - looking to convert that back soon....hopefully....maybe....when I have time.

Thanks for the wheel pics... I really like those (I think that's first Keystone wheel that I've ever liked, no offense to those that do). Those would look great polished up with the centers/black areas color matched to the car. Just my

Scott

Steve I really like that frontal shot of your car with the hillside in the background. Just the right stance - the way it should be!

Alleged "HO" decal on the deck lid, huh? We both know that all WW5 cars were SUPPOSED to have that decal . . .

Not sure Jeff, haven't bothered checking. Didn't even know it was supposed to be a 4spd until Lloyd told me the pricing was different. Made me climb under there to find the shifter hole covered with a piece pop riveted in. Still owe Lloyd a steak dinner for that one.

Hah - you should have kept your mouth shut, Chris - I'd forgotten all about that steak dinner, LOL!
