Default Rewire/Fuse block install Question (American Autowire)

We started the install of the American Autowire Classic update wiring harness for our 64 GTO. Got the fuse block installed and this thing is big and bulky. I knew that when I bought it, but the directions indicate to mount the fuse block in a location that is closer to the clutch pedal. This is a problem because my foot made contact with the fuse block when engaging the clutch. I’m average height, and build. I had to relocate it further to the left (closer to the e-brake pedal), which now partially obstructs the stock rectangular wiring port in the firewall. My foot now clears the fuse block, but it’s closer than I’d prefer (wouldn’t be an issue if I had an auto trans.) There just isn’t much room under there to work with. Wondering if anyone else has done this install, and if you had to make mods to make this work well.

The pic shows the new position that the block is mounted in.
