Default The BMFH Engine is FOR SALE

Hello All

Very Sadly, I have decided to SELL the BMFH Engine. (Boat Motor From Hell)

Due to long term family financial obligations I have realized that I will probably never have the money to campaign the engine on either the Drag Strip or the Dry Lakes.

It started out with Bud Meyer, he started with a 230 in his Hydro Plane, and then a 250, he Won the Salton Sea Championship its first year on the lake, against a sea of other V8 powered Hydro Planes, he was the ONLY 6 Cyl; V or Inline. He sold it to his machinist buddy that built the ¾” Aluminum Billet Cam Box from Scratch and had the cam built for it, ONE OF A KIND!

Engine Specifications:
1968 Pontiac OHC 6
Approx: 500 H.P. (Not Dyno Tested)
301 cubic inches
Cunningham HEAVY DUTY 5.7" Rods, with 7/16" rod bolts
14.5:1 Compression ratio, with JE Pistons
Chevy 292 Crankshaft, Turned down OD to fit inside the OHC 6 Block
8620 Steel Billet Camshaft
Rollerized 2.3 Ford Cam Followers
Allgon Injection Manifold
Hillborn Injectors, Pump, and Lines
Electromotive DIS Ignition System
Barnes Lube/Scavenge Pump

It has been 169 MPH on the Dry Lake Bed, by JD Tone in his Roadster.

It has been disassembled and freshened up after the season on the Dry Lake, I heard its Run on the Engine Stand before I purchased it. It was AWESOME to say the least, really rattled everything including your ears.

It will come with the Hydro Plane Racing Headers and 3 into1 Headers into Separate Collectors for under the car angled left discharge.

I am selling it for $4500.00 Firm; there is only one like it.

Any Payments must clear the bank and be PAID IN FULL before shipment.

I will work with you on a Payment Plan if you need it.

It has been inside and in DRY STORAGE for 11 Years; I have never started it after purchasing it, SADLY.

Here is a link to it if you would like to look at Some Pictures of it.

Please, only “SERIOUS CORRESPONDANCE” if anyone would like to buy this piece of OHC 6 History.

Local Pick-Up Only Please, unless you want to arrange YOUR OWN Shipping Method, I will deliver it to the loading Dock for you here in Sacramento, CA. for Free, however I won’t build a box for it for less that $100.00 and it will be a sturdy box on a pallet too. Overall weight would probably be in the neighborhood of 700 Pounds for shipping charges.

Thanks for reading, please send me a PM if you are interested or have Questions, Again only SERIOUS CORRESPONDANCE

Take Care,

Dusty

Default The BMFH Engine

Hello All

I have Donated the BMFH Engine to the Speedway Muesum of American Speed, in Lincoln, Nebraska

Here is the Link to it: www.museumofamericanspeed.org

Note: The engine is NOT on display yet, as they are Prepping it for a Properly Detailed Muesum Piece.

This is a HUGE MUSEUM, the OLD HEADS will really enjoy all the Prior Racing History Items.

It will be in the BUD Meyer Exhibit, that is its Clam to Fame, He terrorized the 450 HP V8 Hydros on the Water, they could Not Catch him in the Turns, He won the Championship the first year in the water.

When he showed to race it the First time everyone Protested it, they got out the RULE BOOK, it said NO OVERHEAD CAMS,

Bud Said I Don't Have CAMS, I have CAM, "SINGULAR" on that technicality, the Allowed him to race it.

He went on the Water and WAILED WITH IT, and Won Many Races

Here is a Link to it's Pictures, if you have not seen it.

Enjoy,

Dusty AKA BMFH

Dusty - I always loved that motor and appreciated the incredible commitment they had to make that thing work.

When they do have it ready to show, I hope they somehow include the "BMFH" nickname.

Nice! That's a good home for it and a Great Museum.
It would have been cool if they could have set it up next to the stocker our club donated several years ago.

Hello Jeff

The OHC 6 is in the Bud Meyer Exhibit I think, If Not, they Might be when the BMFH is Displayed, I hope so, it would show How Far it Had Gone to be the BMFH

I was wondering just what to do with it, since I never could Afford to use to its Greatest Potential.

Doug Clem, A LIFE LONG BUDDY OF BUD and VIC, He alerted me about the BUD MEYER Exhibit, then I thought that there could Never be a BETTER Place to Display it, Bud Meyer and Vic Enyart were the two individuals that Made it Happen, JD Tone Drove it to 162 MPH at Bonneville, they were Hoping for 200 MPH, however they were having trouble getting it to rev over 5000 RPM's it turns out that they Did Not have a Ground for the DIS Ignition Unit, You will notice the WHITE Wire going to the DIS Computer, that was the FIX. And they did not have the Luxury of racing it any More since it was in a LOANED Race Car.

I wanted to put it into a Boat, since that was its Clam to fame, but I just could Not afford to do it.

Thanks for the Good Words

Dusty

P.S.
I talked to the Engine Tech, he said that it is the NEXT Engine to get the LUXURY TREATMENT, before the End of the Year.

The Curater was Jazzed about it Because it was in Such Good Shape and IS a Running RACE Engine.
