Mystery light in dash?
Hello dashboard electrical experts, and other who just know everything! I took my dash apart a month ago to fix a couple of mundane things, but as things go, I got distracted for a month, and am now putting the dash back in so I can go cruising again! However, for the life of me, I cannot remember where one of the lights is anchored, even though I have had the dash apart many times....I've attached the pic - hopefully one of you can tell me where the dam thing mounts.
Thanks much, Joe

Looks to be the light used on the cigarette lighter/ashtray,
here's a similar light from my '66.

My car has one of those, too. I never bothered to figure out what it does. How does it mount?

Yep, those clip onto a slot in the ashtray bracket and are also used in an illuminated ignition switch, i think. The light escapes thru the little hole just enuf be be accent lighting.

It clips to the side of the cigarette lighter housing. The small light shines into a slot in the housing. At night when you pull the lighter, you can see the dash hole to put it back in.

Cigar light and ask tray lamp
Here a sheet; the metal covers snap into slots in the side of the retainer for the lighter and on top of (underneath the dash) the steel receiver bracket that the ash tray slides into, in the dash.
