Most of these cars aren't "muscle cars" even in a generous sense of the word.

Any time I see one of those blogs/articles titled "The 10 worst", "The 10 best"..etc...I know some writer has pulled something out of the place where the Good Lord split him.
He probably has zero experience of ownership with any of the cars on the list. What makes any of those cars any worse than the Chevrolet version of the same cars?

Who writes these things?

"This was an excellent car. It was built in various versions, all of which had high revving 4-cylinder engines, some came with turbos. We'd avoid this model because, like the GTO, it too was abandoned without cause on two continents." - Said of the GXP Solstice.

So its your number one worst Pontiac because its rare?

Also its easy to pick on mid 70s cars when hardly any of the large cars aged well style wise.

You're entitled to it, but that is your opinion.

Garbage article written by some intern who didn't bother to crack a book open. Pathetic...

I'm old school and a "Muscle Car" is a GM A Body (or Ford or Mopar equivalent) with a big V8, 4bbl or 3 deuces and 2 doors.

When they start the list with the Pontiac Astre and include the Sunbird, Grand Ville 4dr, the '62-63 (why not '61?) Tempest, the OHC 6 LeMans, the 2003 GTO (Never was one), the Fiero and the Solstice is not to be taken seriously. Firebirds are very desirable cars - but they are Pony Cars, not Muscle Cars.

I personally would like to own a Fiero and a Solstice, but regardless of factory engine they came with, they don't constitute a "Muscle Car". Likewise with the OHC 6 LeMans.

One thing that really kills this article is this comment:

'Believe us, GM built some very good cars and bad cars in all of its divisions, but for whatever reason, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac were made to produce some very bad models during the lean years, whereas Chevrolet and Buick only produced a few lemons. Pontiac was seen as a step-through division by General Motors.'

Buick is a red headed step child - a poor man's Cadillac. Their cars were, and still are, boring. Chevrolet made their own versions of the many of the Pontiacs - can you say Vega, Monza, Corvair (in place of the '61 - 63 Tempest), Camaro, Caprice, etc....

Off my soap box now...

I happened across this on one of the cards on my phone:

'10 Things You Didn't Know About The Pontiac GTO'

It's equally bad...

There are so any errors in the of script, that it's laughable. As Don Keefe said, they never even bothered to verify their so called facts.

I better start looking for the 2003 GTOs, I thought the new GTO started in 2004, according to the article it was 2003..........LMAO. The 2003s are gonna be collectors items in the future.

Mediocre build quality on the late model GTO??? I bought mine new in 2006 and have 141,000 miles on it over almost 15 years. The car is built better than most of the GM cars that proceeded it, and I've owned dozens of the earlier cars.

The "about the author" blip at the end of the article even says he's a "goofball", I'd tend to agree with that summary.

As the current original owner of a 2004 and a 2006 GTO, I don't see how these cars are some of the worst. My '04 has 92k miles and retains ALL original parts except tires, brake pads, thermostat, battery. and radiator. I've never had a car of ANY brand that I spent so little on repairs. Oh, I also replaced the struts. The car still drives smooth and like brand new. It has never failed to start, the a/c hasn't been touched, and is still very fast for a stock engine. My '06 only has 11k miles and is totally original right down to the dry-rotted tires. These cars are not only some of the BEST Pontiacs, but some of the BEST cars, PERIOD!

The Aztek is not on the list - the author has no credibility.

Clickbait is right....though usually they make you click for each entry.
My wife was reading one to me yesterday...10 Muscle Cars to avoid. First on the list was the Buick GS....later down the line...the Pinto.

Actually, the omission of the Aztek shows SOME (but not much) credibility, as this was supposed to be a list of Muscle Cars...

At the bottom of the page you can click on a link that goes to other articles written by the author; they're mainly ten best and ten worst lists, so that's what he does for a living. Judging by his picture he's in his 40s or 50s, so it's not like he's some fresh faced intern either.

Exactly - the writer is simply doing an advertising job. The content of the article is designed to ruffle feathers such that folks will look at it again and again, and hopefully get sidetracked by one or more of the ads paying for the article.

The contents may not reflect the views of the writer, simply written for controversy and continued reading.

Not worth commenting on the virtue (or lack thereof) of the content.

They must have been thinking about 442. With a 442 option you could order it on a F-85 or a Cutlass. GTO on the other hand was a option on LeMans only until it became it's own series.

Jon, I'm sure you've seen the General section of AACA Forum today. The very same thing is going on with the Tri Five Chevrolets
