I removed the header panel on mine. Allows easy access to the mounting screws. That's how I remember doing it anyhow. It's been a while.

That's the only way to do it far as I could see. I replaced mine last summer.

header panel...same as the front clip, right?

How much time and hassle to remove?

Header panel is the nose piece that houses the grills and headlights. 6 nuts to remove if I remember right along with unplugging the headlights. 2 nuts on the outside of each headlight from the inside. These are the hardest to get to, but not too bad. Just take your time. 2 more nuts for the little braces that bolt to the top of the radiator support.

Sorry, I also forgot about the 2 nuts on the inside of the center of the nose. I guess that makes 8 total.

I thought that thing was hard plastic until I bought a new one. It's very soft and flexible rubber.
Glue may hold it but it probably won't look any better than the crack. If you take the time to make it look good, you probably could have changed it out with the same amount of time and effort.
I'd say it would take maybe 2 hours if you haven't done it before.

I replaced it today, with removing the header panel, here's a shot with it removed, thank goodness for that flexable 1/4 extension I bought at the last swap meet.

And with a the new one, just left if black for now, to bad the previous owner was a hack, you can see red overspray on the bumper right under the new filler piece, Will paint it when the car is back to it's original Silver someday.

I painted mine with a rattle can. Duplicolor. I also painted the bumper with some of that black bumper paint, also a rattle can but I can't remember the brand. I found both at Wal-Mart in the automotive section. Worked pretty well actually.

Where did you get the replacement filler. I am getting ready to paint my 74 and that is one or the last pieces I need.

Thanks

What type of fastener goes at the ends of the filler strip? Assembling after 15 years and can’t remember. The middle is all screws but there are bigger holes at the ends and no metal nut.
