Default 1976 Camaro radio?

I didn't know where to post this, so I figured the lobby might be a safe spot;

I have, thanks to another thread deciphered the Camaro radio that I pulled from a car probably twenty years ago as being from a 1976 model year car.

Are there any second gen Camaro experts in here, which might know full interchange for a 1976 model year Camaro radio?

I would assume that the redesigned Camaro dash was in 1978 - which corresponded with the post-chrome bumper facelift, and for the year that GM apparently standardized the radio sizes...

I would also guess that like the Pontiac radios, the script "Delco" changed in 1975 to the boxed logo...

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered!

Take the part number and add it to the end of this link https://www.partsmarket.com/partnumber/ and it will tell you all you need to know.

My first car was a 79 Camaro but I am no expert on them. However:

"I would assume that the redesigned Camaro dash was in 1978 - which corresponded with the post-chrome bumper facelift, and for the year that GM apparently standardized the radio sizes... "

I recall this being correct. In 78 they did a redesign and the gauge pods wrapped around on the sides. It has an 'organic' look if that makes sense. Reason I recall this is that in 79, the dash was changed again; it was not a full redesign but they made the gauge cluster flat, almost truck-like. Like many 79 owners I've encountered, I was envious of the better looking 78 setup.

After looking at photos of a 78 Camaro dash... found here - https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...50&FORM=IQFRBA. Just change the year you want to see other years.

It looks to me that a 76 radio would work in a 77, 78, 79, or on up to 81. But the main thing is the wiring for it to the speakers. And I believe a Pontiac radio of the same years would also work. Back in 1982 I bought an AM/FM radio out of an 81 K-20 Chevy pickup [GMC would work too] and used it to replace the radio the AM radio in my 79 Formula. The wiring plugs were all the same and the radio fit in the dash the same too. Remember, the Camaro and Firebird came off the same assembly lines. So many parts swapped from one to the other.... and the radio is one of them, even from the pickup trucks.

I'm pretty sure the radio size changed in the firebird after 1977. I do know a '78 radio wont fit in a '77 dash cut out. Just an uneducated guess but probably the same for camaro.

small update;
I tried using the previously supplied link, and it didn't seem to work for me...

I did realize that the "X" in the tag seemed to refer to an "x-body";
then i did some google searches which seemed to imply morneoften than not it was supposed to be a Camaro radio... among other listings...

so I went ahead and made a kijiji link (it's like craigslist in Canada);

Feel free to give me feedback!

What the number you put in the search? Plug in style change from 77 to 78. 74 - 77 is the same and 78 - 87 is the same.
