Default '73 TA

ok, I just finished restoring my '73 TA and it seems I forgot to install the tach wire. Problem is, I can't seem to find where the wire should come out of the firewall. Anyone have pic's of the firewall where the wire comes out or can point me in the direction of getting to it.

going off memory, i believe it comes through the roughly 1 in diameter dome shaped grommet that is in the driver's footwell just above the subframe. the oil pressure sender wire--same thing.

Take a look at this pic. On the drivers side, look at the rectangular hole where the dash harness comes through the firewall to connect to the engine and light harness. Just above that is a round hole, this is where the tach and cruise wires would go. The oil pressure wire is part of the engine harness and not a separate wire.

thanks for the help. great pic. All the pic's I took and I didn't get the bare firewall.
I have a plug there but I didn't think I can get to it from inside. I must have plugged it with the wrong style rubber plug. I used a solid one and not the split groomet. Maybe the new firewall pad is blocking me from getting to it. I will dig a little more.

thanks again !!!

Glad to help. The pic I posted isn't mine. I found it when I was trying to figure out the same thing you are doing now. My car didn't have the gauges or tach and I wanted to add it.

Inline Tube makes a repro of the correct grommet. Let me know if you need a P/N.
