Default 62' Tempest parts car

Just found a 62' Pontiac Tempest parts car with the 4 cylinder engine and a 4bbl intake. It's a 2 door post car Are the intakes hard to find? Any value to the engine? It had a 77 Y code if I was reading it right. I went ahead and bought the 4 bbl air cleaner and base. Not much good body wise. Surprisingly good bumpers, fair grill, all the under hood stuff is still there except the carb

Those are the good heavy castings that can handle some big power. Worth? Not a hole bunch. The last three 4bbl intakes I sold went for $100. They always seem to be a quick and easy sell.

Both the front and rear bumpers are dent free and the chrome actually looks pretty good. I THINK they would clean up and could be used on a driver

When you say they are good heavy castings, are you referring to the block or heads, or both? I didn't know the blocks were different from the 1 bbl one.

4-bbl engine with that code had 10.25 to 1 compression flat top pistons, a hotter camshaft, double springs on the valves, and a 2.5 inch exhaust. Everything on and in that engine is desirable. Keep the exhaust heat riser assembly from the exhaust along with the intake manifold. They should go together.

Referring to the blocks. 61-62 blocks are flat across area where head mounts to the block on front side. There is also a transfer lug on left side of the block. 61-62s are nearly 3/8" thick, some late 62 and 63s are much thinner in the same area. I believe the early block also have a higher nickel content? The heads are just run of the mill 389 stuff.

I don't need a show quality front bumper, but would like one that's pretty nice without re-chroming. Could you post a picture?

How about the rear bumper picture? I have a serious interest in buying the bumper.

This car is going to be crushed in a couple of weeks. The only major things left on it are the engine, minus the 4 bbl intake, and the transaxle. If anyone is interested in any parts off it let me know and I'll see if I can get them before it's gone.

Looking to see if this has power steering. If so, would be interested in the power steering pump / bracket / pulley assy.

Thx, Kyle

Default Head Casting Part Number

Hello,

Are you able to see the cylinder head casting number? If so, take quick photo of it and attach here.

Thanks, Kyle

It's hard to see if the picture but it's the standard V8 head for 62' that ends in 177
