Which is better cv-1 or wide port e-heads?

I think Dave's wide port Edelbrock is better. Thanks

So if it picked up 40 HP at the wheels would 60HP at the crank be a reasonable guess for the horsepower increase ? From a basic "cookie cutter" wideport to one of Daves high end ones,NICE!
At any rate 40 or 60 horsepower jump in a 4 banger is quite a jump. If it was done on a big V8 even ore power.
I would say Dave Wilcox knows what he is doing.
I asked him if he could get 400+cfm out of High Ports with std pushrod and 2.20 valve and he just said "yes". I might give him a crack at it. Its like high end E wide port performance but no offset stuff or huge valves. Stud girdle and go.

That's some pretty fuzzy math.
A 400cfm standard pushrod HP head is nothing like a 400cfm wide port e-head.

The Wilcox ram air 5 heads I have coolant runs through. 2 separate passages on each head on intake and exhaust sides front to rear.

Brian,
Hasn't Dan Barton gotten 400+ cfm out of a KRE HP with standard push rod location?

Stan

If you are looking for all out performance a 400cfm wide-port will make better average power than a 400cfm standard pushrod location head more times than not.... A LOT more to it than "CFM"!

I'll take a 370cfm wide port e-head (if done right) vs a 400cfm standard pushrod hp head

Paul,
Would you be willing to share what kind of CSA each head has?

Stan

No....but it's not only the cross section size but where the smallest area is placed. It usually ends up at the pushrod pinch point, head bolt bulge or valve seat area.

Hey, I fully understand its not going to have the CSA of a big wide port head. But, I am a bracket racer and both would more than do what I want to do with them.
I don't think the std HP head would make as much power on a equal footing. It is a smaller valve and smaller choke point.
But does it matter ?

Cool George. Are there any with al the rockers on ?
The holes for the spark plugs do not go down the center of the valve cover. Are they close to the middle of the chamber ? Any chamber pics ?
Thanks.
This stuff has to start out somewhere. I think a engine like this is a good start vs trying to make huge power right off the bat.

I would like to see a picture of the combustion chamber also.
