Default Holley HP150 fuel pump

Fuel requirements and pump flow came up in a thread not too long ago. I had planned on testing my Holley HP150 to check the flow against what the " calculated " demand would be based on the HP numbers aquired during my dyno session. I thought I would share the info just in case anyone was interested. I flowed the pump through the regulator, just unhooked before the dual feed line. It flowed 1.25 gallons in a minute. So that would be 75 gallons/hr. or 457 lbs of fuel by weight. The minimum for my combo would be 400 lbs per hour. So I feel I am on the edge by the time you figure in inertia and the weighted column of fuel in the lines at launch and through a 1/4 mi. run. I may upgrade pumps after making a few runs at the track.
Fuel system consists of #8 braided line from tank to a screen filter before the HP150 pump, 1/2" aluminum line from pump to the front frame rail, switches back to #8 braided line to a Holley regulator to a home made dual feed line.

I agree, for a high hp street car, or a road race car that set up would work, but for a race car you only have about a 13% reserve and to me that’s cutting it too close!

Thanks for passing along your info!
