I installed one of these in my motor last month. Real quality piece! Didn't have time to dyno test it like I wanted but pulled it apart last week after about 20 runs on it just to check and all looks good. The cam shaft endplay came within .0008 of where Scott set it at-I highly reccomend it-

just pulled cam after about 20 passes no street time due to 3 flat lobes. cam was installed with a _NEW_ cam plate, it has about 060 wear already. coincidently, the new timing chain which was nice and snug during install, now has about a 1/2" slop on one side. This stuff wears out quickly. The roller setup is looking better for next years motor.

JunkYard Dog, from what I read, he has the plain cam plate (only it was new). And he will be changing to the roller bearing style next.

Ive never had to pull a cam with so little time on it before so I was astonished to find this much wear on new parts. I really couldnt see the roller bearing plate worth the $$$ until this revelation LOL New motor will hopefully have a SIM roller setup.

Just did a cam change when I installed my KRE heads. Wish I had got one of Scott's kits...Duh too late now. Will go in this winter on new combo..It's a great looking piece and it ought to relieve some stress on distributor gear to boot..no engineer but JMO.?

Hey Scott:

I've been following this thread from the beginning - you have designed one fine piece there!

I'm finally getting started on another HO engine for my GTO, and my question is - how much lead time do you need to machine a kit and ship it out? The reason I ask is that I'll be align honing my block and won't have a way of knowing how much "shorter" I'll need my timing set to be.

I'll be buying one of your awesome oil pump driveshafts as well.

Many thanks in advance!

I am also using Scott's roller thrust bearing setup and I am very happy with this piece, top quality work.

Lloyd,
Scott's customer service is great. I sent my billet timing chain kit to Scott, he machined everything to my exact specs and had it back to me within a week, including emailing installation instructions at time of shipment.

Thanks again Scott and you will be hearing from me at the next motor build.

Herb

Lloyd:

I have installed two of Scott's kits so far and both have been perfect. This is a high quality product and his turn around time was about a week. I would never build another Pontiac without this piece in it.

Haven't pulled it apart to inspect (nor do I intend to), but I just got home from the Hot Rod Power Tour last night. We came home after Indianapolis. Anyway, I used the Sims Performance Cam Plate while freshening the 350 in the old Lemans and logged 1050 trouble free miles over the weekend. 1050 miles, 70 gallons of gas, and 11 cases of beer...WOOHOO, finally did part of the Power Tour!

I contacted Scott last week about a bearing package and told him I already have a Rollmaster timing set .004 under due to line boring the block and I'm in a time crunch to get the engine together. He told me to send the timing gear for machining and I heard tonight everything will be here early next week. Scott is a great guy to deal with and even went over the installation procedure on the phone. Thanks for all the help Scott.

I just installed a Sims rollerized cam plate on my roadster. Installation was easy and the kit came with good instructions.

This kit should prevent what I found on my stock plate. See picture below. Engine has 85 passes on it and cam plate was new (and flat) when installed.

Note the wear pattern on the cam plate. It is bowed in the middle. Bolts were found tight. Put the plate on a piece of glass to see if it was flat.......it wasn't.

I would if he ran timing chains on the GTO or digger. Both have BOP belt drives, so he has no worries.
