My dash lights aren't working. The fuse is fine (replaced it a few times to make sure). The headlight switch is fine also, I get good voltage through the dash light circuit when tested. I can jump the dash light wire directly to ground (all done at the headlight switch) when the switch is on. I get a small arc and the dash lights will come on and work fine for a few hours to a few days, but they will eventually go out. All the bulbs are good. It seems like a poor connection somewhere, but I can't isolate it. Plus it is a royal PITA to get at the printed circuit ribbon behind the dash. What do you think is going on here? Why do they come on for a while when I jump the supply wires? Everything else seems to work just fine.
Prevert? I'm way past that! I'm a Postvert! http://community.webshots.com/user/motornoggin

In the telephone business, we call this a "swinging open". Tale the dash insert out and pull the gauge cluster out to get better access to teh printed circuit board. The problem is probably there.

Damn you Baker! I knew someone was going to say I had to tear it all apart! Heck, I knew I was going to have to tear it apart. I was just having delusions of grandure and a massive bout wishful thinking, hoping that there was some magic way to fix this without taking it apart. No big deal, I'll look into it. Thanks for the reply!

Sheeeeeit, it's not that hard. You pull the dash insert out, and then the gauge cluster. None of this involves crawling under the dash (which for me is difficult).

It never used to be, until back surgery nearly 3 years ago AND gaining back all the weight I lost after said surgery.
