Default 1962 Tempest having fun at the drag strip

It's been a long time since I posted anything on the Tempest. Her name is "Rita". Named after my late mother-in-law. A truly great woman.
Rita runs 8:60 at 157 mph on 5 lbs of boost as of the end of 2020. She is getting more boost for 2021. Shooting for low 8's.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you must have an electrical problem.

Rick,

Nice Tempest and 8:6 to boot.
Where did you run this year since Joliet was closed?
Sure would like to see you run it sometime.

Fyi, we both work at the same place.

Clean.

Tasteful.

Incredibly quick and fast!

Beautiful factory styling on these early Tempests that’s all too often overlooked.

Congrats on a perfectly executed race machine.

Bart

I could have bought a red convertible but turned it down.

Does your car have the stock front end or is it done away with and a modern coil over modern type installed? I'm thinking a modern one but wanted to ask to be sure.

Ya' know, 61's and 62's are not my cup 'o tea style-wise but I just love the looks and stance of this one. Very well done! Bravo sir.

Ran mostly at Byron this year. It's a bit of a trip for one day but it was the only option. Joliet is only 20 minutes from me.

Damn ! About 50 years ago I sent 2 '62 Tempest's to the junk yard. 1 was a Lemans. Maroon with Black buckets.

I turned down a '63 Wagon with a 326 in it for $600!!!

Had a big dent in the quarter panel but otherwise solid.

1971. I bought the 62 Lemans . The owner said reverse was not working.
I paid him 10 bucks and drove it home 65 miles.

What a beautiful build!

There is a 62 wagon in Houston for sale cheap and it looks solid- your build makes me wish I didn’t have so many projects!
