Wow tough crowd! I am enlighten more everyday when it comes to the restoration of my 1969 Ram lll TA. Seems that unlike Camaro's the TA has far more mystery on what is correct and what is not. I hopefully will get it close to right with help from guys like Tom and JK but know that if it is sitting next to another restored TA the two will be different in some way simply because some of the replacement parts are different and the originals are NLA, like Frt. brake rotors, tierods the original shade of blue on the interior door panels,seat cover etc. But, I will get it as right as I can and love every second I get to row the gears.

Looked at the photos, and yes it is a beautiful car which has been painstakingly restored. Is it worth half a million dollars? In my opinion based what I've seen the past few years, no way Jose.

But in the end, is what something is "worth" whatever one person is willing to pay for it? If someone decides he is willing to pay $500K for this or any other car, does it really mean that it is actually worth that much money? For that buyer, certainly. To someone else, only if they would also be willing to pay that same price. In the end, what something is worth is whatever price the majority of people would be willing to pay for it if they had the money to do so.

It's still a purty car, though.

It was Ziebarted when new with a paraffin based rust proof
that comes off easily with Wd-40 or mineral spirits.
The yellow inspection mark is plain as day and no black paint
anywhere to be seen. I think Jim said his 68 was the same way.

Possibly there is axle plant variation, but all assemblies out of the Detroit Gear and Axle plant were painted black per GM spec. And the roadtest pictures of the day support this.

Where were F-bird axles assembled?

6. Gas tank sending unit calibrated and restored to new

Can a sending unit actually be calibrated, doesn't it just tell fuel gauge it's level?

My TA had the chrome grills on it. 2nd owner from 1971 says it came with it, but I am not sure if maybe dealer put them on. I did not get marked off at POCI for them. As far as that the Ebay TA, I filled him in on the few points needed to be 400 pt. I see he did not heed the suggestions. He took 1st place at TA Nat's 3 years ago. The resto he had done was over 100K he told me then. The BJ sale at 105K was a buy-back. I have the tape on it and it was an abrupt end to the bidding. The bidding stopped for 20 seconds and then hit sold quickly if you nocice. Figuring that out Barret made 17k to 19K on just the buyback commission alone not including registration and sale was prime time. Buchoo dinero hombre $$$$$ for a no sale.

threefiddie, I was at the Mecum Fall auction, and saw the car you are talking about. It went for $123,500but then you have to add the 6% seller fee to that. Anyway, it was a nicely restored car, but the resto was older, and there was no documentation available when I was there.

Do you know where the TA you described is going to for sale in the Spring?

I am no 'expert' by any means , but even I know those screws are not "correct"..its a 'fix' for a broken part...I have the same stuff on mine......I think that for a $500,000 car , they would have gotten that fixed....

How nice is nice is the question? 95K to 150K were recent sale figures. All depends on documentation as well. One on Ebay got to 78K but needed restoration so add 30K for a good resto.
