SJ received the 455, guage package minus tach, SJ emblems inside and out the car, dual sport mirrors, etc. Easiest way would be to find the build sheet inside the car or send your VIN and $35 to PHS for the factory to dealer invoice.

Along with the "64" headed 455, the '70 SJ's recieved the Pontiac cast 12bolt housing'ed R/E (no casting date) on the lower webbing (& other differences than generic "chevelle" 12 bolt housing).

Leveling control set-up was also std with SJ's.

Was power bucket seat not std with SJ too? How many 455-4spd GP's for '70?

Agree with Rocky, if everything jives, it's time for PHS.

Thanks!!! The car has 12bolt rear, power driver seat, interior door panel lights, gage package(has hood tac), cornering lights,
AM/FM with rear mounted 8-track, underhood trouble light, map light, all SJ markings, tilt wheel, PW, PDL, 15" rally II wheels, is missing load-level system, but has evidence that it was there at one time.the car also does not have the leather interior. Bill Lake

Well, if indeed it has a 455 with the #64 heads that Ol' Pinion mentioned, you got yourself an SJ. You might still want to send to PHS and get the documentation for your specific car. It sure sounds like you got one but that little piece of paper will validate it for you.

I wish I could lend more help on the 70-down SJ package. I know quite a bit more about the 71-72 SJ's and a lot more about the 73-77 SJ package.

Do yourself a big favor and send for your car's information from PHS.

I have a 69 SJ428 4-speed that was sold to me as a true factory 4-speed. I knew these cars are often counterfeited so I went over it with a microscope. I was legit as far as I was concerned -- until I got the info from PHS showing that it was a SJ built as an automatic.

PHS will know more about your car that you do.

You could optioin a J with any SJ options. PHS is only sure way. Cheap insurance!

199 4 sp 455 70 GP's. Mine is a loaded J, but really with the clutch pedal doesn't much matter if J or SJ. My 69 HO 4sp SJ has only an am fm radio with rear speaker as only non SJ options...Go figure.

Very easy to fake SJ or 4 sp, so get PHS. But honestly with GP, adding options does not significantly increase or decrease value, save manual trans. Condition fothe car is more important to determine value.
