Default Are the headlight doors on a 88 Trans Am vac or electric

They're electric. I put a new motor in the 1990 Formula we had and had to purchase it from GM.

most of the problems are from the gears stripping
take apart and flip the gear over and its fixed until the next time it strips
the headlights have a controller so may want to check that too

there is a guy on the ls1 tech board that sells a aluminum replacement gear thats not that expensive , the replaement motors go upwards to 200 bucks

Lon at Top Down Solutions has an inexpensive nylon fix that will take care of some of the lazy headlight issues.

IIRC, there is alos a relay on the firewall that affects their going up and down, but I'd have to look for the specifics on that.
