Question Iron Duke

Here is the problem... Have a 97 S 10 pickup with seized 2.2 l engine/5 spd. that is going to be pulled out and replaced with a good 2.5 l engine and 5 spd ( the "iron Duke"), from an '88 S 10. Since the computer controls are different from one engine to the other, can the 2.5 l engine be wired in, bypassing all the computerized equipment, even the key, by wiring the positive side of the coil to the positive side of the battery, and a separate switch wired directly from the starter to the Battery? The truck will not be on the road, is used here on the farm to move feed from silo to barns, its small size such that it can be easily driven into the barn. Just needs to start and run to drive the truck. Thanks, Ben.

No, probably not, since the ECM controls the fuel injection system on that motor.
