Default ZD 6 Cylinder Overhead Cam: WANTED

I'm looking for an engine as a present for my dad's 1967 Firebird. I am not very familiar with cars or engines but I will give you the basics of what i know and hopefully someone can help me out! The car is a Sprint convertible that came with a specific build code on the engine, i believe the code was available on the Firebird and the Tempest. The engine I am looking for is a 6 Cylinder Overhead Cam with a "ZD" build code. I am not sure if they are hard to find or maybe even impossible to find, but if anyone here has one or could point me in the direction of where i might be able to find one, i would appreciate it! He has been looking for this particular engine for a long time but he isn't very internet savvy so i thought i would sneak in and try to help him out as a surprise.

He got the car in high school (umpteen years ago!) and his cousin that owned a wrecking yard accidentally crushed the engine block when it was supposed to be getting repaired (twenty years ago). Don't ask me how that happened, all i know is that my dad STILL holds a grudge against him. Thank you for any information you can give me, it would mean a lot to him and I both if we could track a good one down.

"Dorothy"

Where are you located? Do you happen to know the build date of the car?

I am located in Kansas City, but the car is actually 60 miles west of Wichita, KS. I would have to ask him about the build date, I'm not sure, but if it's necessary I won't hesitate to ask him.

This is great! We should be able to make it work, i have to talk to the old man tomorrow and make sure everything is 100% correct before i pull the trigger, but I'm thankful for the people that led me to this site. My dad's birthday is on Christmas eve so he will have a lot to celebrate this year.
