Default Need help on 70 Bonneville

How do you change outer brake light bulb? The repair manual gives great detail on changing the tail light lens, but there must be a better way to simply change the bulb.

I wish it was that easy. The tail light assembly is in the bumper. There are 4 screws above each taillight assembly, but removing them does not loosen the assembly. The panel inside the trunk, is solid and does not provide any access. There is a rubber plug that accesses a 3/8 or 7/16 in. bolt, but it is not attached to the tail light assembly.
There is no access underneath. After removing the metal pan, you can see the tail light wiring and sockets. Unfortunately the sockets do not plug in from the bottom. There is no room to reach the rear of the sockets, they are above a piece of angled metal.

I know there must be a simple solution. I talked to an owner of a 1968 GP and his tail lights are plugged in from the bottom.

that rubber plug and nut is the bumper bolt. there should be 4 5/16 head bolts underneath and once removed you could side out or down the bulb assembly. isn't there screws on the lenses? i took one apart and kinda forgot.....
