I have a 1979 400/4 speed TA. The number on the carb is 17058395. I know the correct carb should be a 17058263, but I cannot find any information for the 17058395 carb. I've tried all kinds of searches on the internet. Anybody know what this carb is?

I would say it's a service replacement carb.

I believe the correct carb number for a 79 400 4spd TA is 17059263. The 5th digit should be a '9'. The 79 400's were actually 78 engines that were stock piled, but the carbs should be 79 stamped carbs (ie. 5th digit should be a 9). Though, I just read that the 79 service manual shows the correct carb number as 17058263.
17058395 would appear to be a 78 carb, as the 5th digit is an 8.

The correct carb for the W72 engine used in 1979 was number 17059263. The 1978 Service manual appears to be incorrect.
