1977/78 Firebird front clip swap to 70-73
Hi,
I just bought an 77 Firebird Esprit. Like to swap the straight hood with on from 70-73. So i think i need to swap the front bumper , too. Does it work? Can i still using my 77-81 front fenders? How about the radiator frame and the things ..does it still fits? plug & play? Who has already done a swap like this? Thx Bjoern

1977/78 Firebird front clip swap to 70-73
Sorry but I'm not following your question,
If I'm reading it correctly(?), You're wanting to swap the 70-73 frt clip to a 77? Or the other way round? Just noticed this post was a couple months old, duh... |

Its not that difficult but requires a little thought:
1- Fenders will work 2- Radiator support will work You need hood, lower valence, bumper with the brackets. The brackets will bolt up where the 77 bumper brackets did. You will have to do one of two things to get the lower valence to fit right: 1- weld in the tabs from a early set of fenders so the valence can bolt to it. 2- Drill a hole in the top of the valence and attach to the bottom of the bumper. I can provide you with pics if you are really serious about doing this, let me know. Overall its pretty easy and of course looks awesome. here are some pics of my car with the early valence. Its an 80 car. http://www.mybirdypg.blogspot.com/ |
