TH400 kick down solonoid
Anyone know the amp draw of the kick down solonoid on a TH400? Im going to do away with the switch, and operate the solonoid off of the tps. Knowing the amp draw would help me know which output to use from my ecu.

Measure the res of the sol, between the sol terminal & ground. Use ohms law to calculate the current. Use 14v [ alt voltage ]. Current = volts divided by the resistance.

So it measures 11.5 on the 200 ohm setting of my multimeter. Dividing 14 by that reading gives 1.22 rounding up. Sound correct?

Yup sounds right, 1.2 amps. I think you would be better off using a miniature relay to switch the sol to prevent damage the delicate circuitry.

Yeah, I think so too. I was mostly trying to figure out which of the outputs would be most suitable and if I can save the high current ones for another function. I'll probably use one of the medium ones like PWM as an on off. Thanks for checking my work.
