Biltit, thanks for the link, good info. I'm (obviously) not an expert on brake systems, but I have never heard of installing adjustable proporting valves on both the front and the rear brake lines. The link you provided does not mention this option in the section on "Overly Sensitive Brakes". Are you sure this would work?

Socrates, I may not NEED HB, but I don't WANT manual brakes. My valve covers had very little clearance from the vac booster and I need taller valve covers to be able to install the rocker stud girdles that I plan to install. I'm also planning to install a bigger cam with less vacuum so it seemed like HB would be a good solution. Hopefully it will be, with the right selection of parts.

I hope your right about the reservoirs interchanging, and I'm sure some do interchange, but I don't have a big selection of them setting in front of me to see which ones will interchange, so I may have to buy/return some to HOPEFULLY find one that will fit. I've never seen reserviors in a parts store. Do parts stores usually stock a variety of reservoirs?

It does not mention it because it is not the proper way to do it. It is a cheaper option though. If it works in the rear i cannot see why it would not work in the front too.

Finally, the HB unit I bought off Ebay back on Mar 18th arrived yesterday. It took the Post Office a week to get the package, that was shipped Priorty Mail, from Federal Way WA. to my house, A distance of about 35 or 40 miles. Wow Iam shure glad I was not in a real hurry for it.

As you can see from the attached photos there are Three rush rods, so I should not have any problems getting the correct adjustment.

I have a question for Old Goat 67, how did You remove the big nut holding the plate on? A big cresnt wrench? I know I can remove the bolts and the snap ring to get them out of the way.

Ollie,
I did not remove the big nut or even touch it.
I simply made a pattern for holes needed to be drilled, by using the hole pattern from the existing vacuum boost unit. Then drilled them very carefully on the drill press. Remember this,(1) the big nut has to center in the firewall hole, (2) the two holes are different from one side to the other, (3) you need a 3/8 " spacer to keep the big nut from touching the firewall. It needs to be centered up and down, left and right. I believe one hole on outboard side bottom was used without re drilling it. Just knock out the four studs that came on it, and go for it.
I'll send you a PM with my phone numbers, I'll be home about 4PM Central. Call me and I'll give you anything I can.

They sent you three rods, I only got two, but the middle one in your picture is what I used. No cutting, clevis fit right on it just right.

Ollie,

It would take a really big Cresent Wrench to remove/install the nut, bigger than any I had, so I used a pipe wrench. It worked fine. The nut is sort of a lock nut, so you have to pull pretty hard to get it loose.

I assume you mean February 18th? If it was actually March 18th, that may be some kind of record.

Just think how long it would have taken if it wasn't PRIORITY MAIL.

No it was March 18th when I bought the HB unit on Ebay. A week seams like a long time to go 35 or 40 miles when it went from Alhambra Ca to Federal Way WA. in about 24 hours.
If it hadnt been Priorty Mail I would still be looking for it.
