This is mostly stock (although it might have a station wagon spring in the right rear):

The GTO (sold it in 2013) ran a std-bore '74 2-bolt cast piston untouched short block topped with a pair of #197 455 HO heads. It was backed by a 10" Continental converter and a TH400 that featured both a reverse-manual valve body and a transbrake. A Ford 9" with a Detroit Locker and 3.89 gears handled the abuse.

This is my 65 as it was set up by the previous owner and before I decided to completely redo it. The front is 205/75/15 with stock springs. The rear has 275/60/15 and station wagon springs, I believe they are Buick springs. The engine is a 69 428 with aluminum heads, intake and radiator. I think the front could have been a little lower, but it had a nice stance. Could have been because of the lighter engine. I still have the springs upstairs and can get some measurements from them if you want.

that's a mean looking '65!! all purpose. vey nice.

i agree that the front could come down 0.5-1" maybe, but it still looks great as is.

Thanks for the compliment but it doesn't look anything like that anymore. Once the car comes back I have 215/55/17 going on the front and 245/50/17 on the rear mounted on American Racing Hopster wheels, 17x7 front 17x8 rear.. The front is still a little high so I am thinking new tubular upper and lower A-Arms and lowering springs might be in its future.

Here's my 'Bird.

18" wheels front and back, AFCO adjustable spring seats up front so I can change the ride height if so desired. Got lucky when I first put them in, liked the stance and have never changed it.

Cheers,
Ken

Mine.. currently in storage though until I can build a workshop at the house and finish the car off such as adding some 18" US bandit mags, bullet mirrors, 4l80e and some other stuff I have lying around.

Just curious - what is the backspacing on those rear wheels? Is it the original differential?

Thanks.

It's been a while since I built the car... but to the best of my recollection the rears are '66 lemans springs with the rubber cushions on top...the fronts I believe came from global west (their recommendation for my build...pontiac block and their upper and lower control arms w delrin inserts) it also has B body spindles with baer 12" brakes (taller spindle than stock)...and thanks for the compliment

The backspace is 5.5 all the way around (I wanted to be able to rotate tires if needed and carry 1 spare) , no interference anywhere , original '67 rear all new guts and 3.90's
