Default 68 firebird hei fit

Will a factory pontiac hei clear the firewall on a 68 firebird? Thanks

Yeah, I have one on my 67. The bigger problem is that it leaves very little room for error on the fit between the vacuum canister and the heater hose.

Yes , & be sure to remove resistor wire or run new wire to power the HEI

Biggest thing is getting the canister clocked properly, but it should fit. If the cap is hitting your firewall, check to make sure the subframe alignment isn't shifted back or cocked.

I removed HEI from my 68 firebird. It was veeeeery close to the firewall, but it fit.

Yup have a large cap HEI on my 69 as well. As already stated, you'll have issues more with the vacuum canister than with the body itself.

I have one on my 69 Bird. No problem. More room if you clock it with the vacuum can on the driver side instead.

I have to change the gasket on mine, Ill give it a look when I replace it.
