JWs on ebay!
Something is weird about these wheels... look at the 3rd to the last picture. Embossed stamping? None of mine look like this... anyone ever seen one like this before? Optical illusion?

I spoke to that guy a while back. He also sells JW style wheels with no stampings at all that he has made. Last I talke to him, he was asking $800 for a set in red primer. A guy I know bought a set and claims they are identical to original JW's, but I have not seen in person.

To me that wheel looks OK. The embossing around the JW looks like things I've seen on other wheels. Look at the MI over 1 in this example.
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...hmentid=215091 The thing I notice is that the JW, KN and KR stampings are always sans-serif. The picture fourth from last in the auction looks like a font that would be a serif type for the 15 and the JW. Compare it to the third from last and you can see they are significantly different than each other.

They look Ok to me too. I've had a couple sets dated 7/15 & these look typical. But I'm not so sure the market can bear that auction price. No bids at this point.

I would say that they are original JWs not repops. No sign of welding on the backside....Origionals are resistance welded a reshelled center would be mig welded.

Looked right to me, too. Everything but the price, anyway.

The guy seemed really nice and legit when I spoke to him quite a while ago. He said that he had that original set and repop sets. When selling the repops, he makes it clear that there are no stampings on his and he will not stamp them. The repops he has don't have the stampings inside the rims like the originals. I am sure those JW's are indeed originals.

Its optical
I saw what you saw too. Sometimes the 15 and JW look like they are raised - like a date code on a block. Sometimes it looks like a normal stamp impression. kinda freaky - i've looked and relooked many times and it still bounces back and forth |

Welding up and blasting and stamping wheels is one thing, the price is something else!
They should be marketed as repops at least.

I emailed him that his price was too high, even for originals.

Like I said on another thread about these - it's a very late date and likely won't work for 99.5% of the 70 TA's out there. I've got to believe these were originally delivered on an early 71.
Rarity + Desirability = $$$$ Anybody want to venture a guess how many of these got tossed in the first year or two? I think this is a case where demand outstrips supply.

I posted a pic of my 7/15 on our JW date thread. I agree that these would have been for 71 cars.

I stumbled on to two 5-11 dated JW's mixed in with a couple of KR's when I bought a set for my Formula a few years ago.
