Default 67-68, 69 Lower AC/HO air filler dam

Hey all you Firebird and Trans Am guys/girls... as you know Max Performance continues to think of new projects that the Pontiac world may want. Our next project may be the Lower Air Dam for the 1967-68 HO and A/C cars as well as the 1969 FB/TA Ram Air cars & A/C cars. We have submitted very nice original pieces to be made and our US manufacturer said they can easily reproduce these out of good 'ole American steel. The price looks to be in the $250-275 range. Please participate in the poll so we can determine how much interest there is in this high quality US made item.

This topic and poll needs to be seen by a lot of 67-69 owners in order to get this project off the ground and moving forward! Viewers, call, e-mail, Facebook, Twitter etc your firebird buddies about this thread so they can come here and participate.

Thanks!

Default air dam

they are hard to find. I am sure they would help with keeping the motors cool. i know there are fiberglass repro's out there. My 2 cents. $250.00 seems high. A little cheaper and if it includes shipping maybe people would get in line.

The fiberglass ones are less than optimal.

I've spent plenty of money finding good used originals or having marginal ones repaired.

I have two originals, but if I didn't, I would surely buy one at the $150 price range if shipping was no more than $50. If this is oversize, then the shipping might be an issue. At the $250 to $275 range, I'm guessing you will miss all of the people that have driver quality cars and would make due without it.

It should be a simple stamping to do. Proposed price is way too high. I'm not sure what the cost is, but you would need to sell a lot just to cover bare cost. A chrome front bumper is cheaper than that. $150 would be about right. But if mine was missing, it would be worth it. Dont know how many to stamp out though? 500? 1000?

are you guys talking about the sheet metal that behind the valance that houses the parking lights on a 69?
It has a curved front edge and a 90 deg bend in the rear?

Default air dam

no its not the piece that holds lights. I believe the air dam helps with air flow to keep our motors cool

Yeah, I'd buy that for my 67. For what it is, would like the price closer to $200 if you can.

That piece allows you to mount this 69 TA air dam on any first gen. I like this flat dam better than the camaro style angled ones. I restored an original stamping to mount on this 68.

I have an extra original 69 lower air dam if someone is in need. I have sand blasted it clean and sprayed two coats of epoxy sealer on it. PM me if you have interest.

I didn't vote to skew the results because I still have my factory lower baffle pan. That said, if it ever got destroyed I would certainly pay the premium for a quality metal replacement. I have not heard good things about the current plastic/fiberglass offerings.
