Default Exhaust routing options

Motor is going in over the next few weeks.

I have been thinking about the exhaust system. I am going to add cutouts and have a stainless system, x crossover magnaflow like mufflers and hedmen headers. My car is not stock nor numbers matching, so originality is not in play here.

Options: 1. Do I run the typical over the rear and both tips out the back.

2. Dump the exhaust just in front of the rear tires with custom exhaust tips.

3. Of dump the exhaust just behind the mufflers with tips facing the roadway.

Is there an advantage or disadvantage to any of the options?

Thanks

If you've ever driven through a dirty parking lot with turn downs you wouldn't as that question. Way better off running tail pipes all the way out the back.

I’d go with , over the axle and turned down between the frame rail and the quarter panel. I don’t like the looks of pipes going out the back. Depending on how much power you are supporting, the better transverse muffler systems are nice. Really helps with ground clearance.

I agree with Murf here. If you don't need a 3" system, I'd go with the pypes transverse muffle system and x-pipe. That gives you maximum ground clearance and it's going to put the pipes in the factory location between the leaf spring/frame and the 1/4 panel.

I have the non-transverse system from pypes and the over-axle pipes are a bit wonky, but they work. The transverse system should fair better as it's just an up-sized and mandrel bent recreation of what was in the car from the factory.

The Race Pro muffler it comes with will be very similar to a magnaflow.

Having the under-car mufflers looks kinda cool, but my car is fairly low and I drag those things quite a bit entering and exiting businesses, in parking lots etc.

When I said pipes all the way out the back, I meant std tailpipes for a bird that end between the leaf spring and rear quarter. Obvious to me. Not so much to all I guess.

I have a Flow Master system on my 67 that exits out rear of the tires. When I put my cutouts on I fit them in the recessed area that the original resonators would have been. I had to modify the Y pipe to make the fit right. You can see in the pictures how I made them work.
