Here is the assembly sheet from 1972, should be the same for 71 to 74 I think, 1970 might be a little different. BTW, I have not found any lamp assemblies that have a center mounting hole like in the picture. Anyone know?

It's the ground wire, screws over the metal lamp housing to secure it to fibreglass hood, the other end to the firewall.

Yeah, they just did an "exploded" view to show the assembly detail, the ground eyelet will need to be touching the metal of the bracket.

I wonder if an actual photo exists of a 70-74 Formula hood and light exists (factory installed). I could never find one.

Seen a couple with it on the order form, but then photos don't show the hood in engine shots.

The sheet above looks exactly like the direction sheet for the dealer installed underhood lamp. I installed them at the dealer as shown in the picture. The ground I used already had a engine ground strap, as shown on firewall. on it. I was not aware that Y92 included underhood lamps on Firebirds. Interesting.

This is for a 69, but its the same part number for 69-72. It is a real odd ball, a lot of catalogs list the Camaro as the same, but that is wrong because it has two holes for mounting and does not hang "upside down" like the Firebird ones.
