TY. I believe there are more than a few out there with nearly 100k TAs built in'78.

Question is if you find a mint one w a 180hp Pontiac is it worth $35k? One like that in the past has been chewed up pretty bad in the shark tank.
So...as always, Q you have to ask yourself - what is one w low miles worth to you?

And what drivetrain?

Engine:
-Pontiac
-Olds
-Chevy

Transmission:
-Manual
-Automatic

Ours is a W72 4-spd w A/C WS6 w Deluxe Vinyl interior special ordered to tow a boat to the Lake in Shreveport.
(I still have the tow bar I removed at time of purchase, original paperwork etc.)

Other than the above mentioned performance items, it is basic equipped.

IIRC this was a $35k ask For Sale @ the TA Nats several years ago.
Non-W72 Auto. Clean, clean, clean w claimed low miles!

Edit: Shaker has 6.6 Liter callouts so may have been 403 Olds engine

Thxs for the reply. I missed it earlier. IIRC 225/70/15 is the OEM size for WS6

The one at the nats if from KY was sold to Canada and recently sold to a friend in NJ this year. Original price was 25k. Car was/ is WS6 W72 w/ 24k miles at the time. 31K now. Decals are wrong for engine and have been corrected.

Really? Interesting.

The one I remember seeing there was a base Pontiac 400 L78, it didn't have the factory nickel plated (dull chrome) valve covers, etc. and I questioned the "6.6 Litre" shaker call outs @ the time...as was informed by others that the "base" Pontiac 400 equipped should have "no shaker decal call outs"..."those "6.6 Litre" were used only on 403 Olds engine T/As..." So…

No matter, it was a while ago...I may have "remembered" incorrectly!

Believe it changed hands in '08. One of the last years of the Holiday Inn location.

Could be 2 diff cars but aside form a few things, there are lost of similarities knowing the history of the one I know. There was a story with the valve covers and the engine call outs.

Should be at t/a nationals this year

Interesting. If the same one I remember, it also had the non-w72 "round horn" air intake air filter shaker base.

My 1st '78 T/A was WS6 L78 400 auto Martini Blue exterior w "Big 4 Blue" cloth interior. With A/C was able to keep interior pretty clean using pwr windows up position always...but still a major challenge for a daily driver. That is what makes an original pristine "Custom Lombardy Cloth Blue" interior look so nice. Hard to clean...

No "chrome covers" and standard air cleaner (non-W72).

Parted out a W72 auto non-WS6 Martini Blue with same interior @ same time...guy approached me because he'd totaled it the week before and needed cash...

That had all of the W72 equipment mentioned missing on the L78 above.

Looks like a decent car.........too much air in the rear springs and definately needs white letter tires.....

Here is my wife's T/A. Second owner L78, WS6, Fisher T-Tops, and deluxe interior. Non A/C but has cruise control and rear defrost. Original owner put a Herb Adams front sway bar and lowered it 2 inches for the SCCA parking lot slaloms. He pulled the engine in 1989. We rebuilt the motor and got it road worthy last year. Saving our $for paint. When we were in high school this was the car to have! Only took us 30 years lol. Oh yea it has the period correct Super Tuner AM/FM Cassette!

Some really nice looking T/As here thanks for the pics.
