Default 1970-73 T/A LARGE scale model kit

Looking for a large 1/12 scale model kit,(japanese origin,I believe) of a 71 (or later released as a 73) Trans am.

These were popular in the mid/late 70's.

Would prefer UNBUILT but will consider a started or built one.

I had one of those years ago, that my friend bought overseas. They are very detailed, and nice.

Otaki and Doyusha were the two brands. Both were the same kit although one brand had metal wheels over the plastic.
I've had all three of these kits over the years. Very nice details with a few inaccuaracies only the true Firebird aficionado would be able to see.

I have a Porshe 911 kit from 1973, still unbuilt, from Otaki. Otaki's kits are the ones with the rubber tires.

I have the 1973 version of the T/A Kit but the rubber tires melted in the box and
stuck to the hood bird decals, Very Cool kit, I want to keep mine.

I think the first versions of it were motorized

Motorized was an option I believe. Those kits were separate kits with the motors included. Tamaya also had them in some of their kits.

Last Otaki and Tamaya 1:12th kits I saw were over $100.00, and that was back in the late 80s. I don't think they're even made anymore. So if you find one cheap in a yardsale grab it fast.

I wouldn't take less than 300.00 for my 1:12th scale 911 Turbo Otaki kit. It might even be worth more than that.... never checked on it. Opened only check that all the parts were there, never painted or built. And I bought it back in 1973 in Rochester, NY when I was working at Eastman Kodak.
