In the Jim Wagners book "Glory Days" he talks about both these prints and shows pictures of them. I know he names the painter and I think he tells where to order one. I will look and post later.

I was under the impression that the prints were an award to the dealership for sales.
I may be wrong.
I have the Fiero one, a yellow racing car at the track.

Went back and read the book again. Pontiac commissioned artist Jack Smith to commemorate Pontiac's first win at the new Daytona high bank speedway in oil. Jim Wagners was technical advisor to artist. The painting was used in 1963 for the annual Estes award, which was given to dealers who equaled or bettered their previous year sales numbers. Per Wagners, many of these painting still hang proudly in dealers offices. He does not mention anything about them being available. So much info on our wonderful Pontiac's in this book. I was thinking someone was reproducing them. Wishful thinking. I would love to have one. As my handle impiles, I am big Fireball Roberts fan.

Not familiar with one on Pikes Peak; however there is one entitled "Testing Wide-Tracks on the Apache Trail".

One other painting you did not mention is the portrait of Chief Pontiac.

I second the name "Testing Wide-Tracks on the Apache Trail". I have had one for about 20 years. I am sorry but it's not for sale (it's the pride of my Pontiac memorabilia collection).

I would love to have "High banks" (I think) the 62 award but I think it's a lot more desireable and therefore out of my price range.

Good luck on your search!

Default Pontiac prints

I was just to an auction just before Christmas for a closed Pontiac dealer. They had the Cheif Pontiac, Fireball print, Apache Trail print, and the one you guys have not mentioned 1980 Daytona 500 with Dale Earnhardt on the pole. My father ended up with 2 of the four(already had the Fireball print for 25 years). The Cheif Pontiac did not go home with him. I was not aware of the Fiero print. Can you post a picture of the Fiero print. I will have Dad send me some pictures of the ones he has.

Thats the one i have along with the FB posters(in frames).
Also the 64 sales award with the GTO plate on it. Unfornitely the wood had split and warped in several places.
They where remodeling the showroom, and throwing them out!
We had a small dumpster outside the back door of the parts dept.
Lucky they came thru the my office which was between parts and sales...i was there at the time...and saw'm before it was to late.

The painter, Jack Stuart, used to live across the street from us. He passed away a few years ago. I have Artist Proof prints of his later work, including Fiero STP, the Bonneville Trans Am, and the Car of the Year GP.

I stupidly failed to get home and raid the cookie jar in time to get his own Roberts painting when his children were selling off his estate.

we have one of the Chief Pontiac portraits and one the Pikes Peak Run in our Pontiac memorabilia collection. Be patient they do show up.....but usually pricey.
Just saw one of the Pikes Peak Run on eBay w/ a buy-it-now of $750. Don't think it sold.
