Default 74 SD 455 manual questions?

So lets just say that I met a guy who says he has one in blue. Lets assume that this checks out. (I would buy the PHS) If he agrees and sells it to me , should I take out a loan and jump on this?

I see them on EBay for 90K, but 300 point restored. If the numbers on the car match etc..
Sight unseen what should I expect to pay?

Thanks
Dave

Condition is everything after # matching IMO. If all the #'s check out and the car is complete and solid, then, you can start trying to determine it's worth. The manual adds value to it. If it's missing key parts and some SD only pieces, good luck, cause replacing them it's gonna take time and lots of $$$. So, it's hard to put a $ figure on it w/out knowing more about it. Sight unseen, I would not buy it, unless he was giving it away. there's lots of people that believe they have an SD 455, but are mistaken. You really need to check it yourself.

I know a guy that has a blue manual one too!

The loan part is up to you. Whats the selling price? What does it need to make profit? Personally, I dont think anyone should take out a loan to buy a car. Especially a toy when you have to put food on the table. That aside, as stated above, all SD parts need to be there. Only freebie would be exh manifolds which you can get. All other parts will kill profits quick if you nee d to purchase. Ones bringing big bucks have big bucks into them to get to that point. Dont forget 73 SD prices are a bit higher than 74's so dont get caught up in that.

Say #'s match and all parts are there and say a salvageable body, I would say at least 25-30k. Run? Drive? Lots of variables.

Need an extra eye to look over it? PM me.

I have to ask about this car as a friend of mine pasted away in dec. & all of his cars were sold by his sister. The cars were in Niles MI. & went to somewhere just north of me/him. The 74 SD he had was a blue 4 spd. & the engine has a knock in it. Before he died he though it was a broken piston but I though it was bad mains. If this car is in MI. make sure you get to see it first & listen to the engine before you go bidding on a car your going to be paying on for a few years. He had 4 74 SD 455 T/A's that got sold in the estate.

LOL! I was trying to make a point, not actually take out a loan. I am glad I asked, because a cheap find might turn into an expensive one if certain things are missing. This is more of a feeler anyway.

The car is not in MI it is in NJ/PA.

There were some early 4spd cars produced not sure how many but there was a hold on them due to thrust main problems. I read the actual letter(wish I would have kept it). March they still weren't released. Check vin and build date.

Will do. They hasn't given me any more information. I said I was super interested and he backed off. I think he needs to sell it but can't come to terms with it. Very understandable. More to come.

If there is an X in the vin it's for real, no PHS necessary.
