That's it, I'm never going to give you another Ralley. Would assume they go to the scrap yard then end up on some slick SD TA.

Default Rallys vs. Honeycombs

I think Rally II's look GREAT on alot of Pontiacs but I would have to say that it will likely be a step backwards on this car.

With all that dark blue paint going on,the Rallys will get lost, especially, with the less noticeable correct 73 & up hardware.

I have a dark colored 73 with Rallys & (incorrect) 71 - 72 hardware on them.

The shiny squared off trim rings & red PMD centers really wakes up the wheels.

Rallys kill the look of the honeycombs. You just need to leave the trim rings off. That will give it the mean look an SD deserves and it saves about 6lbs per corner.

There are a lot of people in my corner on this one. Speak up guys!

I'm right there with ya' Bob!

Don't get me wrong - I like Honeys also, but it's hard to beat the aggressive, lean appearance of a "dechromed" Rally II. Especially JW's, KN's or KR's wrapped with Polyglas GT's!

You can't tell me that Honeys look better than this! Not buying it.

BTW: I got the good interior color too!

Nice, Bob . . . VERY nice. Understated yet muscular.

I recall the thread when you installed those wheels.

Looks like the trim ring theives have been HARD at work!

My Opinion:
The "judge look" just doesn't cut it for ME on ANY Firebird/T/A unless it's a 70-72 WITH the JW style wheels.
I know that this is NOT the case here, but when I see a "generic" 15x 7" Rally II with NO trim rings,I just assume that they were stolen or curbcrashed so bad that the owner just left them off instead of bucking up the $$$ to replace them.
Perhaps on a RACECAR?,but NOT on a NICE stock looking car with all of the other trim & emblems in place. It just looks incomplete.

You want to look AGRESSIVE?
Try a dechromed Honeycomb. (not correct for 73 & newer either, but looks more acceptable.

This should stir up some "spirited" replys!

Lloyd,

I used to say I didn't like orange cars, until I saw your Sundance car. Dang, that was one good looking car.

Thanks, Chris!

I can't take any credit for it's appearance except that I did source the correct KR wheels, have them stripped and painted and wrap them with the correct Polyglas GT tires. That and the no longer available correct '72 exhaust system from Gardner.

That's one helluva pic.

Gorgeous T/A, stunning background, and a very interesting camera angle.

I vote Honeycombs. Yes I know they are heavy, but Rally wheels are on a ton of cars. I like that they are different and not seen very often. I also like the odd ball color combo. I have the red int. with the white/blue ext.

Thanks. Last summer I had a professional photographer take a bunch of pictures of the car.

BTW - My car has trim rings on the original sales contract.....

Are those the correct hubcaps for a 74? I thought they were the "moon" style.

Nothing sleeper about a yellow SD Formula - I don't care what shoes it's wearing!

Default hub caps

The moon style hub caps could have come on the 73-76 a-body & firebirds as they were an option & the moon was the hub cap you got on 73-74 when you ordered no optional wheel at all the wheel you have on the yellow SD is the hub cap that came on the ventura. That was the wheel cover you got when no other wheel option was ordered on the ventura. The order sheet shows the option code for the hub caps on the a&f bodys as steel wheel with small chrome cap, the ones on your bird are alum.
