Default 1974 SD455 4-Speed Trans AM

OK boys, this will give you guys something to watch, speculate on, make fun of etc..
Just listed on eBay, my '74 SD 4-Speed T/A. This car was the class winner at the T/A Nationals and the Ames Pontiac Nationals in 2006 (1970 - 1976 Stock/Restored). 15 year restoration finished last July - The previous owner started the frame off in 1991, finished the body and paint work in 1992 and let it sit under a cover for the next 13 years until I rescued and finished it. A very nice numbers matching and correct car. I have driven it about 25 miles since completion. See my thread in the for sale section or the eBay ad at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...164562273&rd=1

Any predictions? I won't sell it cheap!

BEAUTIFUL CAR!

I'm NOT a big fan of RED cars, but we'll make an exception on yours!

Does it come with one of those custom aftermarket windshield washers?

Believe me, I thought about taking one picture like that. It was either going to be superdutybob in a bikini and a wig or the body building gal down the street - I think you would have liked her a lot better!

Very nice car. I think your car is worth about 80 to 90k. I hope you do more and good luck with your sale.I would not let it go cheap either. This is JMO , last year you would have done a little better.

Very nice car and if past sales are any evidence, it's worth what you're looking to get. I wouldn't sell it cheap either.
Since you asked (sorta) though....I'll be willing to bet that you'll get more spirited bidding and therefore a higher price if you start the bidding low.
I know it doesn't make sense and it seems like a dog and pony show but past experience has shown me that if you auction something worth $5,000 and you make the opening bid $5,000, you may not get a single bid. Start the same item at 50 cents and they'll bid it to $5,000 the first day just to see what the reserve is. The tire kickers will drop out and the serious bidders will take it up from there.
Bidders are strange animals.
NICE car though....

Beautiful car, Dick! Lots of detailed photos, excellent description. I hope it does well for you. I do have to agree with Greg about the opening bid, but we'll see. Maybe it won't make a difference.

Default 74 S.D.

Hey there Dickie! Good luck with the sale. As you know, I had a very strong buyer for you on that car last year. Unfortunately, you were not ready at that time. The S.D.'s still seem to be hot however. Yours is certainly a gorgeous example! P.S. I also had a damn nice candidate at the Nats lined up for your MISSING ebay hood shot!

Jeff:

I think about that "windshield washer" often. Usually when I'm alone if you know what I mean. She was smokin' hot!

Good Luck with the sale Dick. Having seen this car personally I will say it will make a nice addition to any collection. Absolute beautiful example of these cars. Unfortunately my modeling career failed and I have to stick with the "Y" code trailer park special sitting in boxes in my garage.

Someone will get a super nice car if the price is right.

Thanks for the complements on the car guys. As with most, it's not perfect (a Wing or Tiemen job) but it's not too bad. On the opening bid, I did struggle with what to start at. My rational was this - if I started low I probably would have had a lot of "tire kickers", "droolers" and the guys looking for a deal. I have a price (not cheap) in mind that I will not sell for less and it's north of $75G so why bother with the questions, emails, calls, requests for more pictures and so on. I've already got a few of those with it starting where I did. I don't have time for people who aren't serious or aren't in the buying category for this car. We'll see, eight more days so lots of time.

Uncle - if you have her number I be happy to drive down there and get a shot or two. Probably increase the traffic on the ad significantly!

Your starting bid strategy obviously worked and proves the evident quality and desirability of the car. It's getting up there pretty good with lots of interest.

"As for a '73 SD manual in green, never cared for them, looks like dirty pond water. Red is much nicer! "

Is that a shot across the bow? LOL

Right across the bow and into the heart of one of your own.

Brew: Throw something heavy at him. Maybe it'll make him decide to find the correct dash bezel for his car! LOL

Hi Craig, everyone is entitled to there own opinion.

Me personally hate the Buccaneer Red color (arrest me red) but with a Baby Boy Blue car like yours I guess one can only dream!

How's that Bob?
