Question Am I correct in assuming . . .

that if one doesn't have the build sheet for a '74 T/A, there's no way to know if the car was originally equipped with Rally II or Honeycomb wheels?

Does it not show on the factory build sheet from PHS?

It seems like in 71 Honeycombs were a no cost substitution so it wouldn't show up on the PHS, only the build sheet. I'm not sure if the same was true in 74 or not?

Nice looking 74 Lloyd!

15 x 7 Rally II's were standard.Honeycombs would have been an option on a T/A. However dealer's were known to switch out the Rally's for Honey's to make the sale at no extra cost. How you prove that would be in the original paperwork from the dealership.Do you have a copy of your original window sticker Lloyd ?

UNfortunately,PHS cannot provide a copy of any buidsheet.

The information they provide is a copy of the invoice that Pontiac sent to the dealer that originally ordered the car.

In 1974 Rally IIs were standard on T/A's,but H/C's were a no cost upgrade.

Because it was NOT a chargeable item,it would not show up on the invoice.

Lloyd:

To answer your question, Yes you are correct in assuming that without a build sheet you really don't know. Same goes for auto or manual transmission. You can assume that if you have a W8 block code that you have a real manual but, it's not cast in stone without a real build sheet.

Partial VIN stamped on front face of block will also help to confirm original engine/trans installed from factory.

Cool

Lloyd:

Worst way to haul a car is with a cover on it. It will rub the paint off of the corners of the car due to constant cover movement during transport. 1100 miles of polishing if you will.

Send us some pictures when you get that bad boy. We want to see smokey burn out photos. LOL

I hope the cover is OK - TST transported my SO GTO for me and it was covered. I couldn't find any "polished" areas on it when it arrived from Maryland.

Pics will be forthcoming . . .

Congrats on the SD Lloyd, White 74's are my favorite color and car. Although I'm restoring an Admiralty Blue 74 (non-SD). Someday I will have a White one.

As far as I'm aware, it never left Florida until Chuck Henley bought it in April, 2007.

Are you referring to Jerry Burge of Atlanta Rod Shop?

Thanks, Bub.

Pics, as promised.

I've driven the car all of 300 feet, as we're really busy at the shop today!

Sorry for the butt shot - the transport driver was guiding his wife as she backed out of the trailer. Just as I hit the shutter button he walked in front of the car, LOL!
